NOMAD at BioMaH Conference: Advancing the Future of Dental Healthcare

What a fantastic week it was at the BioMaH Conference!
NOMAD team took the stage to share their groundbreaking research aimed at tackling peri-implant diseases and improving dental healthcare. Our special NOMAD session featured incredible presentations from leading experts, showcasing the breadth of innovation within our consortium:

🗝 Keynote by Prof. Mariano Sanz: “Understanding Peri-implant Diseases: Etiology, Diagnosis, and Management.” This comprehensive talk shed light on the latest strategies to address peri-implant diseases and improve patient outcomes.

🦷 Prof. Dr. Annabel Braem: “Novel Biomaterials to Prevent Peri-implant Infection.” Prof. Braem introduced the NOMAD project, focusing on innovative biomaterials designed to combat peri-implant infections and extend implant longevity.

🔬 Fryni Skorda: “Surface Modification of Zirconia for Bioactive Dental Implants to Promote Soft Tissue Integration and Limit Peri-Implantitis.” This work explored advanced surface modifications to enhance implant integration and reduce infection risks.

🌿 Dr. Naiera Zayed: “Boosting Endogenous Oral Microbial Health: The Power of Prebiotics in Oral Microbial Ecology Modulation.” Dr. Zayed’s talk highlighted the role of prebiotics in maintaining oral microbial balance, a key factor in preventing peri-implant diseases.

🧪 Prof. Dr. Manuela Killian: “Controlling Release Kinetics from Nanotube Drug Containers.” This presentation focused on innovative drug delivery systems for targeted and effective treatment of implant-related infections.

🦠 Keynote by Prof. Dr. Henny van der Mei: “Advanced Co-culture Model for Evaluating Antimicrobial Biomaterials for Complex Biomaterial-Associated Infections.” Prof. van der Mei unveiled state-of-the-art models for testing the efficacy of antimicrobial materials.

🏗 Dr. Shane Keaveney: “Manufacturing Advanced Dental Components with Designed Porosity.” Dr. Keaveney showcased the future of dental implant manufacturing, emphasizing customized designs and optimized functionality.

This session exemplified the NOMAD project’s collaborative effort to develop smarter, safer dental solutions. Each speaker contributed to our shared vision of preventing peri-implant infections and improving the quality of life for patients worldwide.
