Description

Prof. Dr.-ing. Manuela S. Killian is head of the Chemistry and Structure of novel Materials (CSnM) group at the University of Siegen. Their research background involves the design and development of nanostructured anodic oxide materials.

The group’s biomedical research focuses on investigating anodic oxide nanostructures modified with functional organic molecules e.g. protein/drug-modified zirconia and titania nanotubes for controlled drug release applications. CSnM has a strong foundation in nanoscale surface functionalization and complex-hybrid material fabrication and analysis, with expertise in methods such as anodization, self-assembled monolayers, and surface analysis (SEM, ToF-SIMS, XPS, etc.).
